[Letter] 1877 Jan. 8, Petersburg [Va.] to [John A.] Broadus / T.T. Eaton. 1877.

Sent Broadus a "draft for $25., the amount for which you asked our church," with regrets. "I thought of trying to raise fifty dollars for you, but this Thorburn affair, of which you have probably heard, somewhat demoralizes us. ... Richard Bagby is now in jail. T's whereabouts are unknown. Bagby, tho' a Methodist and Supt. of S. School is related to all our Baptist Bagbys."
